"Humanity is Key"
Chris Gazaleh's 3000 sq. ft most impressive piece to date. An incredible artistic marvel that greets motorists as they merge onto the CA-101 at Market and Octavia, covers an entire building - from top to bottom, including the roof. With beautiful scenes of Palestinian farmland, and a Palestinian woman in a gorgeously embroidered thobe to a medina cityscape with brothers and sisters seen in the everyday struggles against life under the Occupation, against the Israeli wall, with quotes from Edward Said, Mahmoud Darwish, and MLK jr. This is a type of public art very rarely seen here in the US. Gazaleh's ability to see this project through, together with the help of his creative partner, Eli Lippert, is an installation that has and will continue to stand as a significant symbol of SF art, and has truly made a mark on the San Francisco Public Art scene history.
